Prince Harry Mistaken for Christmas Tree Salesman. Plus,The First Ever Sussex-California Holiday

It turns out a Christmas Tree lot in Montecito, California might be the only place in the world that has never heard of Prince Harry. The funny little mixup happened when Prince Harry paid a visit to his local Christmas Tree lot along with wife, Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, 39 and son, Archie, 1.

The ultra low-key appearance took place last week and a tweet from an employee at the Christmas Tree lot confirmed the appearance. So, what exactly happened when the Royal family visited the pop-up lot? (which happens to be in the parking lot of a former Macy’s! Royals, they are just like us). In his tweet, James who goes by the handle, @imaJaaaaaames, explained, “Meghan and Prince Harry came into my work today and we sold them their Christmas Tree.” He explained that instead of requesting the lot to be shut down, their agent directed them to visit at the slowest hour, James went on to tweet, “We had our lot empty when they got there- their agent promoted them a good time to come instead of us shutting it down.”

While the Royal family was in search of a tree for the new home in Montecito, another little boy was also searching for the perfect Christmas tree. The excited little boy ran up to Prince Harry and totally mistook him for a salesman, James tweeted, “There was one family in there and their stoked little son ran through trees up to Harry and asked if he worked here, not knowing who that is.” This has got to be the first time Prince Harry has been mistaken for a salesman, how cute! DuchessLA reached out to James for a comment but we have not yet heard back. We can only imagine the great wave of attention he has received since tweeting the sighting. The Prince and Meghan must have left a great impression as James added, “They seem like very nice people honestly, Meghan sounds very kind and Harry sounded and acted like a chill lad honestly.”

This will actually be the first time Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will spend Christmas together in California. In a statement issued in November, the couple has chosen a private celebration at home with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. A representative for the couple tweeted, “This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.” The Sussex family had spent the previous two Christmases with Queen Elizabeth and their extended Royal family at the family’s Sandringham Estate. While last year, they included Ragland in their celebrations and rented a home on Vancouver Island in Canada.

Shortly after Christmas, the Royal family will have to fly to the UK to quarantine for two weeks before Meghan is set to appear in court on January 11th for her lawsuit against the Mail. Markle is in the process of suing the tabloid for publishing private letters she wrote to her father, Thomas Markle.

No official Holiday card has been released yet either, but as soon as we get news of it, we will post it on DuchessLA. Until then, here is the Sussex family card from 2019, Happy Holidays!
