After a years of speculation, the name of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s black lab has finally been revealed. And the meaning will melt your heart.
Shortly after the Royal Wedding in August 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle adopted a black Labrador rescue. Details regarding the new member of the family were kept a mystery, until now.
In the new book, Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, Royal biographers, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand confirm the dog’s name is: Pula.
Pula, is the official currency of Botswana. Botswana is a very special place for Meghan and Harry as it is where they had their third date. The Royal couple camped under the stars and fell in love. It is also the place that Prince Harry took Meghan Markle for her 36th birthday. The word Pula, is also Setswana for “rain”. Rain is rare in Botswana, therefore considered rather valuable; when it does rains, it is cherished as a blessing.Embed from Getty Images
Pula, is joined by Meghan Markle’s other rescue dog, Guy. Guy, who is no stranger to the spotlight has also had a serious rags-to-riches journey. Meghan Markle, a huge dog lover, adopted Guy in Canada while starring in the television series, Suits. When the Duchess moved into Kensington Palace to be with Prince Harry, she was sure to bring Guy along.
