Watch: Meghan Markle, Prince Harry & Malala Discuss Education for all Girls

In honor of International Day of the Girl, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sit with Malala Yousafzai to discuss education and girl empowerment.

Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist and currently the youngest Nobel Prize laureate. She first captured the world’s attention when at the age of 11 she bravely spoke out against the prohibition on the education of girls imposed by the Tehrik-e-Taliban. This is not the first time Prince Harry and Malala join forces, the two first met in 2014 at London’s We Day conference, an event promoting youth empowerment.

During the live video call, the group sits to discuss education and how we can empower girls to have access to it. Meghan Markle’s passion for the subject was evident as she expresses during her opening statement, “When young girls have access to education, everyone wins, everyone succeeds. It just opens the door for societal success at the highest level. So we’re really happy to join you today.” Prince Harry mirrors Meghan’s enthusiasm stating, “Every single person, every single child, every single young person across the world needs an education.”

The group eloquently delivers their message in the way they make the audience think of girls education as a universal issue. “To know that there is over 130 million girls out of education right now before the pandemic… It worries me, the effect that, that is going to have, not just on the individual, but on the family, on the community, on the country and on the world at large” expressed Prince Harry.

The group wrap up the call on a lighter note discussing what they have been up to during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Royal couple even reveals some endearing details on Baby Archie’s development. Watch the entire video below and let us know what your favorite part is in the comments section.
